Maternity leave includes pregnancy leave and childcare leave. Pregnancy leave starts no earlier than 45 days and no later than 28 days prior to the due date and lasts for three months from the childbirth. Childcare leave begins upon expiry of the pregnancy leave. Pregnancy leave and childcare leave jointly last 365 days and are fully compensated by the state (unfortunately refunds always late). Employees are protected from termination during maternity leave. Father can also use the mother’s maternity leave in specific cases (if the mother abandons the child, dies or cannot use maternity leave for other reasons).
